Aging,
we realize that we are any given age
for only a moment.
So quickly it passes--
all passes.
At this end of the journey
we become observers
(like God,
outside the stream of time,
watching time's flight
like a single turning of the clock):
a baby is a child is a teen;
a student is a parent is a grandparent;
a friend is young, is old, is gone...
As quickly as you blink,
everything telescopes onto itself,
yourself and your story,
everyone and all stories;
all collapse inward,
as quickly as you blink.
